Interested in gaining professional work experience across the globe? With Global Talent (GT) you can work as an intern abroad as you differentiate yourself in the work-field. Elizabeth Stava chose to travel over to Côte d’Ivoire (Ivory Coast) in West Africa to work abroad as a business development manager.
This opportunity will not only leave you with a great experience in the work arena but will also leave you with great memories and strong bonds, that you will remember for a long time. Elizabeth “wanted the chance to live and work professionally in another country, at the same time as learning a new language”.
She began working in a company that offered young Ivorians the service and opportunity to study abroad. Even if her main challenge was the French language, she managed however to adapt well due to the supportive learning environment. While learning a new language, she discovered that it’s all about “obtaining a new understanding and way to see the world”.
According to Elizabeth, working there gave her a liberty to shape some of her work tasks, as well as the chance to interact with many young locals from over the country. Aside from work, she explored the country by travelling to Ivory Coast and gained insight into the culture by trying out Ivorian food. In addition to that she managed to learn about their daily lives by participating in different events and ceremonies. In these experiences she got to meet and befriend many new people.
She recommends all youths out there to follow her foot-steps, because with all the challenges she encountered on this journey, she developed and grew as a person. She says “no matter where you go, you will be challenged, you will learn, and you will develop yourself.”
